We launched our First World War week by coming to school dressed as we would have in 1916. The pupils and staff put a lot of thought and effort into their costumes and they all looked splendid.
During the morning each class spent time with an actor portraying a soldier from the Great War. He taught them a song from the era, how to dig trenches and what life was like on the Western Front. The pupils were fascinated with what they had learnt, and it will help them to get the most from the activities their teachers have planned for the rest of the week.
