PSHE and Personal Development
The subject lead for PSHE is Mrs Tana Wood.
To support the teaching of PSHE and Relationships Education we use SCARF (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.)
This has units for all classes that cover the key aspects of:
Valuing Difference
Keeping Myself Safe
Rights and Responsibilities
Being my Best
Growing and Changing
We teach the PSHE units and outcomes over a 2 yearly rolling programme so by the end KS1, LKS2 and UKS2, the children will have been taught all the outcomes.
Personal Development
Our PSHE curriculum is part of our whole school focus on the personal development of each of the children who attends our school.
We do this in many ways, through the clubs they can attend, through leadership roles in school and other resources and vistors, through the democractic process of voting for school councillors, house captains and reading ambassadors, preparing children for transition in the second half of the summer term, giving the children as many opportunities as possible to maintain an active lifesytle both during the day and after school.
Some of the many ways we do this through all classes is by having a series of mindfulness sessions, a visit from the life van (part of the SCARF programme) that focuses on specific subjects with dedicated sessions over a day, sessions for Year 5 and 6 from our PSCO on drugs, county lines and keeping safe.
