Term 3, weeks 1 and 2
Date: 19th Jan 2025 @ 12:01pm
We have had a great start to the new year in Chestnut Class and already have enjoyed so many wonderful things!
Alongside starting our new topics, the children participated in cricket sessions last Wednesday. This was great fun and it was amazing to see how every child threw themselves into the session. We have some budding cricketers in our midst!
It was a joy to watch every member of our class speak about their chosen topic for the class heats of this year's, 'Look Who's Talk' oracy competition. The range of subjects was vast and I am so proud of each child. They all got 5 hp for participating, and hopefully, gained pride for taking part.
The whole school also participated in extra Art sessions, as requested by the school council. This was based on the painting. 'A Ship Wreck in Stormy Seas' by Claude-Joseph Vernet. We chose to contrast the dark and stormy painting with a calm underwater scene. The children all enjoyed the session.
Thank you to all who have provided small cardboard boxes for Art. The children are having fun creating 3D structures based on shape with Mrs Paxford.
Our Science and Geography topics are once again allowing children to demonstrate their wealth of knowledge, this term it's all about rocks, fossils, mountains and volcanoes, and it seems we have some experts in class, which is wonderful!
This coming week, I will be introducing Year 4 to the Multiplication Check Test, as we start to prepare for the real thing in June. I will also be showing them the URBrainy MTC practise page. If you can encourage your Y4 child to use this as much as possible, they will feel more confident about the test. It will also, more importantly, improve their multiplication efficiency even further!
