Weeks 2 and 3, term 3
Date: 28th Jan 2024 @ 7:27pm
Blimey, these weeks are whizzing past and we have been very busy in Chestnut Class.
The children are enjoying their Materials science topic and have been conducting investigations around the weight of gas, as well as the impact temperature has on the speed of turning a solid to a liquid through heating.
We have finished writing our super biographies about Greta Thunberg and are about to start writing persuasive letters relating to climate change.
In maths, Y3 are getting to grips with column addition and Y4 have been working in reflective symmetry. Motifs for our sustainable bags in DT have been designed and cut out, and the children are enjoying using Logo Turtle in computing.
The weather prevented Forest School from happening on Monday, however, we had a lot of fun playing some team games in PE, instead. On Tuesday, we had a rather wet cricket session with the local coach that had come in to give taster sessions. I was so impressed with the entusiasm and effort displayed by everyone, despite the un-cricket-like weather!
Lots of the class travelled to Birmingham on Wednesday for the fabulous Young Voices concert. They all behaved brilliantly and sang their hearts out. It was treat to accompany them. For those that stayed at school with Mrs Paxford, they had a lovely arts and crafts day and produced some great pictures of Antarctic wildlife, as well as getting a headstart with sewing practice, ahead of making the bags.
