Willow class blog Week 1 Term 2

Date: 8th Nov 2024 @ 2:32pm

Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely break and are now settling back into routines. This term is a busy one with Nativity, a panto trip and Year 1s going to Forest School so please check our class letter for dates and topic web to see what we are learning.

This week we found a beanstalk in our classroom and Giant footprints on the playground and began to read 'Jim and the beanstalk'. We have written some sentences using conjunctions to change the ending of the story. We have also learnt about Florence Nightingale and sequenced the events of her life. Next week, we will begin to look at the changes she made to nursing. We have also started our Nativity practise so it is really important we continue to practise our lines, especially who is before your line. In Maths, we have looked at number lines and using tens frames to represent numbers and also subtract.

We also have created our own Remembrance display by making our poppies and writing our own poems.

We have enjoyed:

  • Creating our own poppies, including making split pin designs. Octavia.
  • Painting fireworks and poppies in the art area. Archie
  • Drawing a bonfire night scene. Bea
  • Practising the nativity and teaching Maple class the songs. Annabelle and Charlie.
  • Being a doctor and helping patients in the doctors surgery. Freddie.
  • Discovering the Giant's footprints. Teddy and Toby.
  • Meeting a poet at the Stroud Literature festival. Roman, Finley and George.

Have a fabulous weekend! Happy Friday!
