Spring Term 2024-25
In the media file, I have included knowledge organisers, including those for grammar for each year group. In this file you will also find the Year 3/4 statutory spellings, along with the Y1/2 list. If your child is not yet confident with the latter, please help them work on these at home.
It is vital that parents continue to share stories, read to, and hear your children read, daily. Ideally, this will continue until the end of primary school - even with confident readers. Below, you will find a list of questions to ask your child; this will help them to think about what they are reading, as well as checking that what they have read makes sense to them.

Times tables.
Year 3 and 4 is a key time to get to grips with the multiplication and division facts, as these are key to efficient calculations in many areas of maths (fractions, area, percentages etc) that will be covered in KS2. We work hard in Chestnut Class to ensure that children gain rapid recall of the multiplication and division facts through weekly 1 minute tests, and our daily Mastering Number sessions, both of which help children to gain confidence in this area. At the end of Year 4, all children are required to take the Multiplication Test Check. I have attached a copy of the 12 x 12 tables square in the file below and will be teaching the children to recognise the link between these and their corresponding division facts.
